statement of faith 02

We believe in One Living and True God, the Great Creator, eternally existing in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.--I John 5:7

We believe the Holy Bible (Old and New Testament Scriptures) to be the Word of God. It is God's only inspired, inerrant, and authoritative revelation of Himself to man in written form.

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but the holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.-- II Peter 1:20-21

We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious death as the only sacrifice for the sin of the world, His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension to the right hand of God as our intercessor, and His future return in glory, first to rapture His church and second, to rule and reign a thousand years upon the earth.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and teh Word was God.--John 1:1

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in teh first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand year.--Revelation 20:6.

We believe in the new birth as the only means of receiving eternal life. The new birth involves a cleansing and deliverance from the penalty and power of sin (justification). It is effectuated through faith in Jesus Christ and repentance from sin.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast.-- Romans 5:1.

We believe in the process of spiritual development (sanctification) wrought in the believer's life by the Holy Spirit through yieldedness and obedience. This growth involves a daily dying to sin and living unto righteousness, finds expression in a holy life and will be culminated at the return of Christ.

Beloved, now we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.-- 1 John 3:2-3

We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit as an enduement of power available for all believers after salvation. This enduement does not necessarily take place upon conversion but is a gift to be received. This baptism results in a bold witness and a deeper expression of spiritual fruit, a greater growth in Christ-likeness, a genuine manifestation of spiritual gifts, and a more effective prayer life.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.--Acts 2:4

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against there is no law.--Galatians 5:22-23

We believe in divine healing for the total man, spirit, mind and body and that this healing is accomplished in the redemptive work of Christ on the cross and appropriated in the believer's life through prayer.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.-- Isaiah 53:5

We believe in the eternal redemption of all saints who are faithful to the end. But we do not embrace the theory of "Once in grace always in grace" regardless of conduct.

Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.--I Corinthians 10:12

We believe in the resurrection from the dead. First, the righteous unto eternal life and second, the ungodly unto eternal damnation.

Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.--John 5:28-29

We believe in the sacraments of the church established by Jesus Christ our Lord: the Lord's Supper and baptism by immersion as a symbol and witness of the new birth. These sacraments have no redemptive qualities but are powerful experiences in the life of the believer.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in teh name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.-- Matthew 28:19-20
